There is some rocky coastline; hence the lighthouse but either side there are pleasant sandy beaches. This is a popular spot for surfers.
The resort is supported by a few Chiringuittos (beach bars) and a number of bars and restaurants can be found either side of the main road at El Faro Playa. It is mainly an urbanised residential area that is very popular with self-catering apartment/villa holidays.
